A movement is afoot to convert the ship into a homeless shelter and more or less of a vocational college.  They figure it'll take about $600k, less than the cost of a typical Hawaii house.  Training people in metal/sheetmetal working, mechanics, electrical, etc. sounds like a good use of the ship.

Cyndi also suggested that it would be a great place to hold reunions.  Perhaps they'll save the Officers Mess for use as a ballroom.
