Happy New Year!
Tuesday, 01 January 2008

Happy New Year, everyone!  It's good to see that people are getting good use out of the site.  If anyone has anything they want to announce, pictures to post but not sure how, etc., contact the site administrator (Mike Connor) using "Contact Us" to the left.

For new people joining the site, there is a slight delay as to when all of your information is displayed and you can log in.  Just to confuse everyone, the name of the latest joiner will appear on the front page immediately, but they won't be in the crew list immediately.  New members are usually "approved" the same day or sooner.  It's just to make sure that it looks like a legitimate request (The spammers have found us).

Also, if there are any PHP programmers or graphic designers out there that want to contribute, contact the site admin.  The engine that drives the site is do for an overhaul, so if anyone has ideas they'd like to see, it's a perfect time to jump in.

Thursday, 08 November 2007

John Wrubel reports that CDR Kelly, XO in the 80's, is in the hospital with heart problems.  John works with him in Alexandria, Louisiana.

For anyone looking for a cruisebook, there are several on eBay, as Lenny March points out.  Here is the link to them on eBay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZdandylook

Acadia as a Homeless Shelter
Monday, 24 September 2007

Jon Hackworth sent in this article from the Honolulu Advertiser .

Apparently there is a huge amount of interest in Hawaii to use it as homeless shelter and job training facility.  As someone quipped on the Message Board, that sounds rather familiar, only the new occupiers can come and go as they please.

The main hurdle for the people that want to take it over is to prove they can maintain it and pay the bills ( probably not trivial ).
