Who's Online

Yep, it will be sunk...
Sunday, 20 April 2008

Kevin Ivey sent in a link that details the Navy's ship disposal plans. Sure enough, the Acadia and several others will be home to the fishes and various other creatures sometime next year.  Exactly why some are sunk and others scrapped isn't explained.  Perhaps some ships are thought too good to become yet another product of China.

USS Acadia to be sunk?
Thursday, 10 April 2008

Timothy Burger sent this in:

The USS ACADIA was among the ships listed by the US NAVY to be sunk in FY2009.  Acadia is more than just any other ship!!  She provided vital roles in many Operations (including, but not limited to, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.)  The US NAVY itself lists the USS ACADIA "for first war-time deployment of male-female crew on combat vessel."

The USS ACADIA is a part of History and should be saved, not sunk!!  I think we should put something on the site with this information and see what we would need to do to save her!

Thanks,
Timothy Burger, Adjutant VFW 1504 - Acadia crewman

Anyone know of further details?

Happy New Year!
Tuesday, 01 January 2008

Happy New Year, everyone!  It's good to see that people are getting good use out of the site.  If anyone has anything they want to announce, pictures to post but not sure how, etc., contact the site administrator (Mike Connor) using "Contact Us" to the left.

For new people joining the site, there is a slight delay as to when all of your information is displayed and you can log in.  Just to confuse everyone, the name of the latest joiner will appear on the front page immediately, but they won't be in the crew list immediately.  New members are usually "approved" the same day or sooner.  It's just to make sure that it looks like a legitimate request (The spammers have found us).

Also, if there are any PHP programmers or graphic designers out there that want to contribute, contact the site admin.  The engine that drives the site is do for an overhaul, so if anyone has ideas they'd like to see, it's a perfect time to jump in.
