Bio / Message: Was on Acadia from like Mar-1989 to Sept 1992.

I'd come back into the Navy in late '88, my NEC's had been administratively stripped and I'd lost a chevron, and I had to come back in as a Second Class. I got to Acadia, was put in R-4 since I was the dreadedQuad Zeroand hated test equipment repair, especially the useless "techs" like Cheryl Faith who would, literally, PRAY (I'm serious) over a piece of gear in attempt to make it work. Then she made Chief - jeez... Lemme out of the loser division!

I'm being too harsh, there were some very good techs in R4 and a couple of good Chiefs, but it was not where I wanted to be.

While in R4 I made ET1 back as well as my mostly useless SPS-40 radar and SatComm NEC's.

An LPO position opened in RADIAC calibration/repair in the Nuclear Support Facility of R5, so I jumped on it and learned by doing after a brief passdown from Joe Passareli.

I trained ET3 Karen Vermillion, ET3 Todd Beasley and ET2 Bryce Girgenti. There was also a big-boobed boob whom I can only remember as "Cat" and ET3 "Broccoli Farts" Turner, both of whom I fired from my shop due to incompetence. Turner felt me wondering why his calibrations were failing QA was getting into "his binnis." Uh, no - nuke cals are MY business.

Turner was amazing, he'd surpassed the six months to get his general DC PMS done, I made him start over and he wondered why he was being counselled and his PQS book torn up because he was signing off his own PQS... DUHHH! He wanted to do grunt work with the nukes, so I granted him his wish.

Todd and Bryce left the Navy after their Acadia tours, but Karen Vermillion remained, married MM3 Scott Wells and she's still in, an NCC at ATGPAC as of late 2006. Last I knew, Scott Wells was a LT.

I transferred from Acadia to Great Lakes, IL, taught SHORECOMM "C" school, then was "Lord of Discipline" for Basic Electricity and Electronics school, managed to be Instructor of the Quarter and first loser for Instructor of the Year 1994 and picked up Chief enroute to USS Constellation, CV64.

I was the communications maintenance Chief, but after rounds with my LDO LT who'd forgotten he was a an FTCS and worked by "leadership by don't make me look bad," I bacame the Operations Dept. 3M Manager. Stayed there until I rolled in Aug. '97.

After Connie I went to Fleet Technical Support Center (the late FTSCPAC) worked 2M/MTR, completed my BS in Information Technology and retired as an ETC Dec 31, 2001.

I've been a Logistics Engineer for SAIC since Jan '06 and work at SPAWAR Old Town. Before that I worked for L-3/Titan/Unidyne for three years as a QA inspector and had a 50 week "career" as a GS12 govie at Seal Beach.
