| Bio / Message: | Checked on board, after 9 years being forward deployed in Japan, and assigned as Maintenance Team Leader in R-2 Division, Shop 38A. I hated stateside duty and got really bored sitting around doing nothing in a perfectly good shop. Did a few jobs on several ships while in port San Diego. Really remember the USS Gridley forced draft blower job (we had to do the damn thing twice because nobody thought to check machinery history for expanded limits on the OPTEST). I watched the USS Princeton float into Jebel Ali like and accordian in the water. Boy she was messed up. On 01/92, I transfered to M-Division (EMO1). I was 1 of 4 MM1's and they found out I was the senior one and made me LPO. Nothing but a headache because none of the other MM1's wanted to do anything. The CHENG was canned from NASA, LT Sommers went nuts one day and attacked the trash recepticle at the bottom of the ladder because he didn't like the color. I saw a screw loose in him and slipped a letter to the XO in the suggestion box (anonymously) and this seemed to straighten him out after he got really pissed. Sorry but LT doesn't mean "Looney Tunes" in my world and I went over your head...so what. Then we got LT Oreil and if he was an engineer, I would eat my dixie cup. In between being stabbed in the back by the other MM1's, having a joke for a CHENG, I requested Evaporators (EMO5) where I remained for the rest of my time on board. I SSB'd out of the Navy on 10/92 as soon as we got back from the Gulf War. "Thanks for the ride". After spending a few years in San Diego working at NASSCO, I relocated to Northern Indiana where I now live with my family and work as a Maintenance Journeyman Mechanic. I Married & Divorced Holley Reimer from the Carpenter Shop (64-A). We have two boys Brandon (13) & Kyle (11). My 1st son 23 year old SGT Robert J. Williams back in Germany from his 2nd tour in Iraqi Freedom with the "Big Red ONE" (His friends talked him out of the Navy). SUPPORT THE TROOPS. |
